Paul Walker, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Walker obtained a BS degree in Biology from Albright College in 1983, a PhD degree in Anatomy from Temple University in 1987, and performed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuroscience at Rutgers University from 1987-1990. He has been a full-time faculty member in the Department since 1990 and was promoted to his current rank as Professor in 2002. Dr. Walker previously studied neural signaling mechanisms in the basal ganglia relevant to movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. He is now fully engaged in fulfilling the School of Medicine’s educational mission to medical students and residents in field of human anatomy. In 2015, Dr. Walker was appointed director of the Medical Gross Anatomy course which offers a full cadaver dissection experience to Yr-1 medical students and is the centerpiece of a new pre-clerkship curriculum that emphasizes professional development along with the obtainment of anatomical knowledge. Dr. Walker also contributes heavily to the Medical Neuroscience course and directs a CME course in Surgical Anatomy of the Head & Neck.
